Themed Parks for kids
Katmandú Park and Marineland
Marineland is one of the first marine zoos from Europe and its success comes mainly from its spectacle with dolphins, considered one of the bests around the world. Aqualand is the biggest water park in Majorca and it has all kind of high-speed water slides, pools for kids and boat rides. It also has a pretty wide zone thought for small kids with pools with low levels of water, small slides, water splash…
Located in the heart of Calviá’s beach, Katmandú Park offers the freedom to play your own way. This themed park has multiple attractions that offer a unique experience: from hiking through obstacles until seeing and feeling the 4D cinema or jumping trhough water slides. The adventure awaits!
Aqualand and Western
Western Park is located in Magaluf and has three themed zones: Indian Town, El Pasto and Westernald. The park has the eleventh highest water slide all over the world called: The Beast. It also has attractions for the smaller kids to enjoy and an area where happy moments can be enjoyed in the chillout zones. Three different and refreshing options for those hot summer days.
Near these parks and the Katmandu there are charming holiday villas such as Blau nit in Puigpunyent or Es Freu in Bunyola.
Natura Parc
In the heart of the island of Majorca, in Santa Eugènia, there’s the Natura Parc, a zoo with more than 500 different animal species distributed in 6 hectares. The 80% of the animals that live in there can’t live outside due to past experiences (mistreating, illegal traffic, abandonment… ). From Natura Parc they work with different conservation programs of conservation, investigation and captive breeding of protected species. As a place to stay, we’d like to propose the town of Inca where you’ll find houses such as Granja, Ines or Caseta.
Palma Aquarium
The Palma Aquarium helds more than 8000 animals from 700 different species. In it you’ll be able to enjoy the most amazing curiosities from the sea floor just as getting to know and taking care of some of those animals along to some guides. Explore the jungle and enjoy the sun in the park gardens while the kids play in the pirate boat or get refreshed in the splash pads.
Magical coves
Coves del Drach o del Hams y Coves de Campanet, de Gènova o d’Artà
Located in Manacor, famous for its natural pearls, Coves del Drach are four big caves (Black cove, White Cove, Lluís Salvador’s Cove and Franch’s Cove) connected in between forming a big subterranean lake in Manacor’s municipally. These coves extend until 5 meters deep getting to the 2,4 kilometers long. Pretty close from here there are the Coves dels Hams, known for its peculiar formations shaped as hooks, Hams in majorcan. Both coves are really famous and also very visited each year with thousands of visitors.
If we want to visit some caves quietly… In Sant Miquel’s hill there are Campanet Coves. They are 3.200 m2 and a visit would last 40 minutes aprox. These caves have awoken a scientific interest because they held a kind of blind meat-eater beattle: the Henrotius Jordai.
The Gènova Cove has calcareous origin and its beauty hides in the colors of the minerals that are located in its walls. The visit is 1km walking aprox and 36 meters deep aprox.
In the interior of these coves the temperature is 18 degrees aprox and the humidity can get to 80%, so it’s recommended to get some warm clothes for the visit. Both Coves del Drach, Coves d’Artà and Cova de Lluís Salvador can be visited from Capdepera where we’ll find holiday villas such as Casa Ángela y Bongust. The Campanet Coves and the Gènova Cove are located at the west and north of Majorca and some cozy places to stay at could be Picara in Mancor de la Vall, Granja in Inca o Vía Roma in Binissalem.
Beaches to visit with kids
Playa de Muro and Playa d’Alcúdia
Playa de Muro is located next to s’Albufera Natural Park. This soft sand beach has perfect waves to go with kids and has been rewarded with the blue flag that only the best beaches in Europe get. It’s one of the more familiar beaches of the island and has a child security service that works with bracelets.
Three KM away there’s Alcudia’s long beach, known for its famous white sand. It also has the blue flag and it’s very popular among the families. Alcudia and its surroundings have some dreamvillas such as Can Corro, Els Pins in Crestatx and Can Guillo in Pollensa.
Playa des Trenc
The last undepeloved sandbank in Majorca is Platja des Trenc, an amazing virgin spot. Surrounded by vegetation, it has two underground springs that make it really special.
The negative side is that it’s too known and really crowded in summer. To get to this beach you can stay in Petra at villa Cirera and in Sant Joan at Binafarda.
Bike Cycling
Es Carnatge
In between Cala Gamba and Can Pastilla, less than 10 minutes away from the center of Majorca, we can find Es Carnatge. This place has a 2km road ideal to go biking, bunkers ruins that hide stories from the war in Majorca and a very important rock coast for the scientific world. It’s a very calm place where you’ll be able to enjoy the sunsets.
Cala Ratjada
Cala Rajada is the second most important marina in the island and is located in Capdepera. It’s the closest spot in between Majorca and Menorca and offers some spectacular views to enjoy biking while we’re on a ride with the family. Some starred villas in here are Cas Padrí Gaballí and Son Xona.
Portocolom
Another bike road for the whole family is in Portocolom. This fishermen town is located in Felanitx municipally, more concretly around a big irregular bay in where the boats, the lighthouse and the houses add beauty to its nature.
A totally recommended walk is going from the lighthouse to any place in town. In this area, Vacalia recommends you some places such as Fiol des Port.
If you’re already planning your holidays in Majorca for 2019, besides from picking the perfect holiday villa, don’t forget to include in this list in activities to enjoy Majorca with kids from 0 to 5 years old.
