Location: Carretera Manilva-Casares, MA-8300, km 2, 29690 Casares, Málaga.

How to get there: From the A-7, take the exit towards Manilva/Casares and follow the signs to Casares on the MA-8300.

Imagine immersing yourselves in sulfuric waters surrounded by history in the tranquil town of Casares. Legends attribute its origin to Julius Caesar himself, who, when he was a praetor, relieved a herpetic disease in its waters and had them built. Although access is free, it is mandatory to make a reservation during the high season. It is the ideal place for a relaxing day in nature.

Río Chillar Route, Nerja:

Location: 29780 Nerja, Málaga.

How to get there: Starting from Nerja, head towards the Verano Azul urbanization and follow the signs to the start of the route. There are two parking areas available for hikers.

Prepare your most comfortable footwear for one of Malaga’s most interesting routes. It’s a medium-level hike, although the path to the first pool is somewhat easier and suitable for more people. As you progress, you’ll come across natural pools and slides perfect for a dip.

Natural Pool Cueva del Gato, Benaoján:

Location: Estación de Benaoján, 29370 Benaoján, Málaga.

How to get there: From Ronda, take the A-376 and then the MA-7401 to Benaoján. Follow the signs to Cueva del Gato. There’s a parking area.

The Guadares river emerges from a cave and forms a waterfall that flows into a cold-water natural pool, perfect for summer. The surroundings, rich in waterfowl, enhance the beauty of the place. Inside the cave, there is a colony of bats and valuable cave paintings, being declared a Site of Cultural Interest. Near the Cueva del Gato, linked to the legendary Andalusian bandits, there are places of interest such as the Pontón Bridge, the Molino de las Cuatro Paradas, and the Medieval Road, an old Roman road.

Stupa of Enlightenment, Benalmádena:

Location: Av. Retamar, s/n, 29639 Benalmádena, Málaga.

How to get there: From the A-7, take exit 217. Follow the signs to Estupa Benalmádena.

The largest Buddhist stupa in Western Europe awaits you with an unparalleled panoramic view of the Mediterranean. This stupa is unique in the West due to its size, standing 33 meters tall, and it’s striking because it’s crowned with a gold-plated spire. The construction offers breathtaking views, making it a space for reflection.

Torcal de Antequera:

Location: Carretera A-7075, km 42, 29200 Antequera, Málaga.

How to get there: From Antequera, take the A-343 and then the A-7075 following the signs to El Torcal.

The karst landscape of El Torcal will transport you to another world. Its unique rock formations are the result of millions of years of erosion, and the observatory offers a window to the universe on clear nights. It can be visited freely or with a guide. Free visits don’t require reservations, except for groups, and are free on marked routes. The Torcal Alto Visitor Center provides services such as parking, information, guides, a shop, a restaurant, an observatory, and special rooms. Guided tours such as the Ammonites Route and the Karstic Labyrinth stand out.

Dolmens of Antequera:

Location: Ctra. de Málaga, 5, 29200 Antequera, Málaga.

How to get there: From the center of Antequera, head north on Merecillas street and follow the signs to the Dolmens.

The Megalithic Necropolis of Antequera, formed by the Menga Dolmen, Viera Dolmen, and Tholos de El Romeral, are some of the prime examples of the megalithic in Europe. This megalithic ensemble, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016, will take you on a journey back in time, showcasing traditions and rituals from thousands of years ago.

Desfiladero de los Gaitanes:

Location: Paraje Natural Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, s/n, 29550 Ardales, Málaga.

How to get there: From the A-357, take the exit towards Ardales and follow the signs to the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes.

The Natural Site Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, in the Sierra Malagueña, is a breathtaking landscape also called the “El Chorro Gorge”. On its walls is the “Caminito del Rey”, offering astonishing views of the canyon. In its narrowest sections, it’s only 10 meters wide and reaches over 400 meters in height. Perfect for hiking enthusiasts and panoramic views.

Cascada de la Cimbarra, Aldeaquemada:

Location: 23213 Aldeaquemada, Jaén.

How to get there: From the N-IV, take the exit towards Aldeaquemada and follow the signs to Cascada de la Cimbarra.

In the heart of the Despeñaperros Natural Park, a waterfall of over 40 meters in height awaits you. It’s the ideal place for a hiking route, to connect with nature and enjoy the sound of free-falling water. The Cascada de la Cimbarra route is a 3 km/1 hour circular path that starts in Aldeaquemada, in Jaén, near the border with Ciudad Real. The Guarrizas river creates an impressive 40-meter water drop falling through vertical rock walls.

Sierra de las Nieves, Málaga:

Location: 29400 Ronda, Málaga.

How to get there: From Ronda, take the A-397 and then the MA-5402. As you progress, you will find several entrances to the natural park.
