La Barrosa has excellent services and amenities for visitors. Throughout the beach, you will find a large number of chiringuito beach bars and restaurants where you can try the delicious local cuisine, from fresh seafood to the region’s typical dishes. You simply cannot leave without trying the famous “pesacaíto frito” (fried fish) from Cadiz, a true local delicacy.

From windsurfing and kite surfing to paddle surfing and kayaking, there are options for all ability levels and experience. La Barrosa beach is so big that it is divided into three different areas:

  1. Santci-Petri area: This section is located near to the Sancti-Petri Castle (Castillo de Sancti-Petri) and the marina. Here, the beach takes on a more rugged character, so it is only possible to swim in the area close to the castle and at low tide you can swim under the cliffs. In this area, you can find excellent housing developments and housing surrounded by pine forests.
  2. Central area (first, second and third stretch or ‘pista’): This is the liveliest area, along its seafront promenade, which stretches alongside the beach, you will find a wide variety of shops to enjoy an afternoon of shopping. There are also numerous bars where you can relax and enjoy a cool beer while the nightlife gets started. The beach in this area tends to be more crowded. The first stretch, or ‘pista’, stretches from the start of the beach to the Red Cross post. The second stretch goes as far as the Atlantic complex housing development, while the third stretch reaches the Public Pine Forest (Pinar Público). The second and third ‘pistas’ are the liveliest.
  3. Novo Sancti-Petri area: This is where the new hotels are found, as well as the houses that are set further back from the beach. Some entrances to the beach have walkways and steps to climb down the cliffs.  An advantage of this area is the availability of large car parking areas.
